As a Dm making a campaign i was wondering how you and others perhaps as well came up with the names of places and gods and such i seem to have a struggle with no just taking others names or ending up with alot of names that just are The (blank).

A lot of the names I pull from real life - for example, nearly all of my Wild Elves have traditional Armenian names. I also use this amazing name generator when writing (I should just leave the tab open during our games).

I get a lot of mileage from Google Translate when it comes to naming places and things (less so characters). If I'm basing a place off some other city or notion I'll often make an anagram of the usual name just to make it easier for me to remember. For instance, when I was making a variation of Atlantis I renamed it Natalis. It may not be quite as immersive all the time, but it's a useful memory tool (for me at least). I also get a fair bit of use out of a couple name generators ( this one and the one Aram linked above). It doesn't happen often but occasionally I need to come up with a name on the spot and those usually come off the top of my head.
